"The Nazareth Jesus Knew" is a video series which takes you back to the place where Jesus spent most of His life. There are 10 thirty minute programs depicting the life and surroundings Jesus would have experienced in His hometown of Nazareth.
Production took place on location at "Nazareth Village" located within modern day Nazareth. Formerly a tract of undeveloped farmland for 2000 years, it is now a Biblical town resembling 1st century Nazareth.
This beautiful presentation is hosted by singer/actor Pat Boone. His love and compassion for Israel was aknowledged by the Israeli Tourism Department of the U.S. when they named him the "Christian Ambassador to Israel" and it is with that same spirit he guides us through the series.
With Bible in hand Co-Host Gary Bayer refers to the parables and teachings of Jesus and relates them to different aspects of 1st century life. He visits several spots within "Nazareth Village" and talks with those that are educated in the history and culture of that time and place. Gary, who has been in film and television, is no stranger to Israel. He and his wife Cindy met and live in Israel and are actively involved in the study and history of the Bible which they share with others.
In addition, the programs feature a food segment with author and lecturer Miriam Vamosh who also lives in Israel. "Food at the Time of the Bible" and "Daily Life at the Time of Jesus" are among the books that she has written. Her presentations offer much more than a view of historical culinary arts. The segments are also seasoned with information about the agriculture and customs that pertain to the foods specific to Jesus' day.
"Nazareth Village" is open to tourists and has been visited by thousands. The Berg production crew quickly felt like a part of the family at the village and were touched by the people and the atmosphere in this wonderful place of Biblical history. As Pat Boone said, "Nazareth Village blesses the people of Israel, Arab and Jew, and gives millions of visitors of Israel something real and authentic and extremely inspirational."
